About the Ford Edge

The Ford Edge takes a roomy and comfortable interior, combines it with superb driving dynamics that actually make it fun to be behind the wheel, and wraps it all in eye-catching styling. Instead of focusing on how many seats they could cram into the Edge, Ford took the approach that luxury carmakers take to midsize SUVs, and focused on making a 5-seater with lots of room for individual seats. The Edge is also fun to drive in a way that 3-row models never really seem to be, it feels nimble, and even the base engine provides a lot of power. All-wheel drive comes standard, giving you extra grip in the corners, and also some extra grip during those brutal Ohio winters. The Ford Co-Pilot360™ suite of driver assistance technology gives you features like BLIS® (Blind Spot Information System) with Cross-Traffic Alert and Lane-Keeping System, helping to keep you safer during your daily commute.

What the Critics Say

“If putting junk in the trunk is important to you, the two-row-crossover segment is a great enabler. With the rear seats folded, the Edge accommodated 29 of our carry-on suitcases. Its competitors are all closely matched in cargo room, but the Edge’s thoughtful storage cubbies and slightly roomier cabin might seal the deal.” — Car and Driver

“The Ford Edge is a compelling choice in midsize 2-row crossover SUVs for its sharp styling, spacious interior, and engaging performance. If a compact crossover like the Ford Escape is too small and a 3-row SUV like the Ford Explorer is too big, then the Ford Edge is just right. It has the space and versatility of a midsize SUV while being more agile and maneuverable than bigger 3-row crossovers.” — Kelley Blue Book

Ford Edge Features

Ford Edge

Impressive Performance

Powering the Edge is a 2.0-liter EcoBoost® turbocharged I4 engine, which is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission and standard AWD. It makes 250 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque, and this gives the Edge enough power to feel peppy and responsive. But for those who want more power, there is the Escape ST, which comes with a 2.7L EcoBoost® twin-turbocharged V6 engine that produces 335 horsepower and 380 lb-ft of torque. The Edge looks as good as it feels to drive as well. Different trims come with either 18-, 19-, or 20-inch wheels in a variety of finishes. ST buyers have the option of 21-inch wheels, to better show off the red-painted calipers that hold the ST’s performance brake pads. The external lighting is LED-powered, with available Signature Lighting for the headlights and taillights. There is available Dual Integrated Exhaust with Bright Tips, as well as additional exterior accents in chrome or black.

Ford Edge Interior

Luxurious Interior

When it comes to the interior, the Edge has a real advantage over the competition in two very important areas. The first is space, you get a lot of it in the Edge, both for people and cargo. There is 42.6 inches of front-seat legroom, and 40.6 inches in the back, quite a lot in this segment. Then there’s cargo space, 39.2 cubic feet of it behind the back seats. That’s far more than average, and a major advantage for the Edge. The next thing is standard equipment, the Edge comes extremely well-equipped. Things like a 12-inch infotainment touchscreen are frequently optional extras in competing vehicles, but it comes standard on the Edge. This screen is powered by SYNC® 4A, Ford’s latest and most advanced infotainment software, and combined with the large screen, it’s incredibly easy to use and responsive. The seats are comfortable, and heated seats are available in both the front and back. Front seats can also be not only ventilated, but cooled, and a heated steering wheel is available as well. Dual-zone climate control comes standard.

Ford Edge Co-Pilot360

Limitless Innovation

The safety features found on the Edge take several different forms. The first is one we’ve already mentioned, the standard Intelligent All-Wheel Drive (AWD) that gives you seriously improved grip in adverse weather conditions. Adding to this are AdvanceTrac® with Roll Stability Control™ and Curve Control, as well as Torque Vectoring Control, all working together to give you unrivaled control. The available Ford Co-Pilot360® suite of driver assistance technologies gives you an extra layer of protection, with features such as BLIS® (Blind Spot Information System) with Cross-Traffic Alert, Lane-Keeping System, Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go and Lane Centering, and Evasive Steering Assist. The Edge provides a superior level of safety no matter what the conditions.
