About The Ford Ranger

Ford knows a thing or two about trucks, and with a total redesign for 2024, the longtime favorite Ranger is better than ever. The base engine is powerful, and unlike a lot of competitors, the Ranger has a V6 option for those who want more power. In fact, there are two V6 engines offered, with the second being the 3.0-liter engine in the offroad-racing-ready Ranger Raptor. Options like a bigger engine and four-wheel drive are available, but the Ranger’s impressive 7,500-pound towing capacity remains the same across the lineup (except for the Raptor). A SuperCrew® cab comes standard, and the well-appointed cabin is spacious and comfortable, with a lot of cutting-edge technology to make for an easier time behind the wheel, whether you’re rock crawling, towing a trailer, or just listening to music on the way home from the grocery store.

What the Critics Say

“Ford elevates the Ranger to the top of the midsize truck class in terms of technology. In addition to all the cool trailer tech, the new Ranger also gets Active Park Assist 2.0 to help maneuver into both parallel and perpendicular parking spaces. Forward collision warning is present, as is evasive steering assistance, traffic sign recognition, post-collision braking and adaptive cruise control.” – Edmunds

“Off-road ability is clearly something Ford factored in the design brief—with the available Ranger FX4 package, dual recovery hooks are seen in the front bumper, and bigger all-terrain tires are equipped.” – MotorTrend

Ford Ranger Towing

Capable Anywhere

One of the big things setting the Ranger apart from a lot of the competition is the way it’s built. The ladder frame construction makes the Ranger tough, capable of serious towing or off road driving. The Ranger comes standard with a 2.3-liter EcoBoost® 4-cylinder engine that produces 270 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. Those wanting more power have the available 2.7-liter EcoBoost® V6, which makes 315 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque. There is also an available Raptor configuration. The Ranger is mechanically very similar to the Bronco, so the Ranger Raptor follows a very similar formula to the Bronco Raptor, a powerful V6 and a bunch of off road performance parts, like big off road tires and long-travel suspension. The 33-inch off road tires and Fox suspension give the Raptor a higher ride height, and 4WD with locking front and rear differentials come standard. The 3.0-liter EcoBoost® V6 in the Raptor produces 405 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque. While there is a clear choice when it comes to which Ranger to take offroad racing, all forms of the Ranger are highly tough and capable.

Incredible Versatility

The Ranger is all about versatility, offering the capability of a bigger truck in a package that’s easier to parallel park or fit in a garage. The standard SuperCrew® configuration means you can fit passengers in the back seats comfortably, and the 7,500-pound towing capacity means that you can bring a pretty sizable camper for them all to fit in. And when you get to where you’re going, in-bed outlets can supply up to 400 watts of power for whatever you need. And if it’s night when you arrive, LED bed lighting makes it easy to see what you’re doing. Integrated boxside steps make it easy to get at cargo in any part of the bed. The interior is full of additional storage as well, including a hidden upper glove compartment, large door pockets, and a large compartment under the back seats.

Cutting-Edge Technology

Ford put a big emphasis on technology to give the Ranger an edge. So one of the first things you’re likely to notice on the interior is a large, vertically-oriented infotainment touchscreen. This is a 10.1-inch screen in the standard setup, but a 12-inch screen is available. This is powered by SYNC® 4A, and comes standard with Apple CarPlay™/Android Auto™ compatibility. The instrument cluster is fully digital and customizable, it measures 8 inches as standard, with a 12.4-inch version available. Towing and offroad technology are class leaders, with Pro Trailer Backup Assist, Trailer Reverse Guidance, and an integrated trailer brake controller. There is also the Terrain Management System,™ Trail Control™, Drive Modes, and an offroad screen configuration with a front camera view that gives you a better view of obstacles directed in front of your wheels. Ford CoPilot-360™ comes with some additional driver aids that make things even easier, including Intersection Assist, Active Park Assist 2.0, Evasive Steering Assist, Post Collision Braking, Lane Centering, and Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go. Whatever you need to do, the Ranger makes it easy.
